It has enough settings that I can customize it to my prefrences (having the bars show percentages, using overlay instead of gamma dimming, letting me dim the external instead of both at the same time, though it is an option). Instead of trying to be the "Almighty" anything and everything utility app, this MonitorControl Lite app just has the one function, and it does that nearly perfectly. There are a lot of other apps which try to accomplish this, but they all fail misereably, mostly becuase they are less focused. Since I started using an external monitor on my new Macbook Pro, I've wanted a way to turn the second screen's brightness down wihtout having to use the physical buttons on it.
